1/3/2019 0 Comments Contentment Through DoingIn this passage, Jesus washes the disciples’ feet as an act of service. He instructs the disciples, as well as us, that we are to do the same. We have the blessing of eternal life and we are the examples to others. If we don’t turn our faith into acts of service, how will others know Him? We can’t become content to just hold onto the Light, but we have to share the Light with the world. This requires action on our part.
1. What actions might He be asking you to take? 2. Who might He want you to share His Light with today? Challenge: Take at least one step or action you listed above.

The things that go bump in the night and the shadows on the walls will rob us of a good night’s sleep. The darkness of the world is similar in the fact that it robs us of our peace of mind. It tells us there is no end, that there is no happiness, and that there is no peace. Christ is the light in this darkness and when we cling to him, we will find eternal life, peace and contentment.
1. What darkness in your world is robbing you of peace? 2. What steps can you take to either focus on the Light in your life or being a light for someone else? Challenge: Pick one individual in your life and figure out one way to be a light for them (i.e. take them a meal, have coffee with them, or do something nice for them). 1/1/2019 0 Comments Contentment Found in the BreadThis passage comes after Jesus feeds five thousand. He is trying yet again to impress on them that they shouldn’t chase after Him because He can feed them physically. But they should chase after Him because they believe He is the Son of God. Again, He is asking us to believe in Him and follow Him so they might have the ultimate fulfillment—eternal life. He never promised a rose garden on Earth, but He does promise an eternal life with Him if only we believe.
1. What stresses or burdens prohibit or limit your joy and fulfillment? 2. What could you do differently to either eliminate or limit the stress or burden? Challenge: Considering your insight above, take at least one step to limit or eliminate a stress or a burden. |
