6/6/2024 0 Comments Falling Down in GratitudeWe live in an age of manmade wonders, from medical cures to instant communications. It makes us cynical. God’s power hasn’t diminished, though. Miracles still happen. Like Peter, when we are blessed in an unexpected and unexplainable way, we should fall to our knees in thankfulness. It should make us aware of how powerful and good God is – and how undeserving we are.
Questions for further thought: 1. Have you ever witnessed a miracle? 2. Do you identify with Peter’s reaction? Challenge: God doesn’t want us to be shamed, but that is different from being acutely aware that the good happening to us has no connection to our own holiness. Try to look at the truth of your own sinfulness without being ashamed – in contrast to the fact that Jesus is completely holy. His holiness covers our sin.
