7/12/2024 0 Comments Finally Free (after 10 Plagues)At the end of over 400 years of slavery under Egypt, Moses finally was allowed to take his people – God’s people – out of the land of Egypt and towards a new land of milk and honey. This initial burst of enthusiasm and blessings would be followed by some severe disappointments on the way, chiefly due to the actions of the just-freed Jewish people!
But, for the moment, God had, at last, thrown off the yoke of their oppressors, and that feeling of freedom could hardly have been contained as Pharaoh finally was forced to “Let my people go.” Interestingly, he then asked to be blessed. Even after repeated beatings, Pharaoh still thought about Pharaoh. Questions for further thought: 1. Have you overcome a very real challenge and feel “free” from a bondage? If so, do you remember that it was the Lord who helped free you from it? 2. Do you, too, get overconfident and forget the Lord when you’re newly free? Challenge: Let us strive, always, to remember the Lord whenever we’ve come through a time of trial, or finished and overcame a challenge or bondage. He was the one who “brought us out of darkness.” We risk slipping back into that same darkness if we forget the Lord who freed us in the first place.
