Freeing Creation

Romans 8:18-21

It’s the ultimate plot twist: When Jesus died for our sins, he undid the penalty of death set by Adam and Eve at the beginning of our world. When you ask for forgiveness of your sins, you receive freedom and forgiveness. But God’s plan for your salvation has momentous power: Your participation in this process doesn’t only transform you, but all of creation! In freeing our souls, God moves closer to restoring the Earth to his original design, one person at a time.

Questions for further thought:
1. Do you think salvation renews Earth now, or only at some time in the future?
2. Does that add extra pressure, knowing that you are part of God’s plan to restore creation, or does it encourage you and give you a sense of delight?  

Challenge: There are so many things demanding your time and attention. Let the knowledge that God is using you to set the world right, that you are part of his big-picture plan, take the sting out of the weight of your daily busy-ness.
