I suspect every believer has had the experience of praying for something for months or years without seeing any results. We’re not talking about selfish prayers here, but rather prayers for things like healing, salvation, and restored relationships. Didn’t God say that He delights in giving good things to His children? What gives here? As the passage illustrates, God operates in a completely different time zone. We may not understand what’s going on, but we can trust that His timing is perfect.
Questions for further thought:
1. Why is it sometimes so hard to believe that God knows best in a situation?
2. Can you think of a time or times when you were able to look back and see that God’s timing was much better than yours would have been?
Challenge: Do you have any prayer requests that you’ve basically given up on? Maybe it’s time to bring them up again. Consider enlisting others to pray with you.
