12/3/2024 0 Comments Obedience in ActionGod sometimes asks us to take steps of obedience that challenge our understanding. When God told Abraham to sacrifice his son, Abraham didn’t hesitate, even though the very thought had to have been very difficult. His willingness to obey rather than question God shows us Abraham’s deep trust in God and his promises. (Remember, this is the same son that God promised Abraham would have many descendants through.) In the end, God provides a ram instead, showing that he rewards faith with provision. Asking God what to do requires the same amount of trust, believing that he sees the greater picture. When we obey, even in uncertainty, we open the door for God’s miraculous provision.
Questions for further thought: • What would be the most difficult thing for you to give up if God were to ask? • Would you still be willing to give it up? Challenge: Choose one thing that takes up too much of your time and donate a single hour this week from that thing to time with God. It could be all at once, or fifteen minutes a day. Your thing could be scrolling on your phone, television, reading other books, etc.
