10/9/2024 0 Comments Repentance and RestorationThis time, after God showed his utter control over the king’s life, Nebuchadnezzar admitted God’s sovereignty. He praised and exalted God and recognized that pride was his downfall. There are no more records of him defying God again. However, just because he now had a correct understanding of God’s power didn’t mean Nebuchadnezzar corrected all the wrongs that the Babylonians had done, such as exiling the Jewish people and many other nations from their own countries.
Questions for further thought: 1. Is it possible for a ruler to be righteous even without fixing wrongs he or she has created? 2. Why was it important for God to reveal his power over Nebuchadnezzar even if it didn’t mean restoring the Jewish people to their homeland? Challenge: Maybe it hampers your faith that God is in control when the leaders of our country seem to be doing things that are unrighteous or not seeking to address the wrongs you wish they would correct. Pray that God gives you contentment and the ability to see his hand in control even when it’s difficult.
