You can come to a church for years and stay a complete stranger. You get the music, the message, a good seat — and you risk nothing. Because a regular can't really be let down. Only someone known can. So we stay anonymous and call it being careful. But anonymous was never the goal. There's a word for what you actually came looking for, and it isn't "attendance."
