What We Believe
If you're on this page, you probably want to know what we actually believe before you walk through the door. That's fair. You don't have to have it settled yourself to be welcome here — plenty of us are still working things out — but you should know what we hold to, so here it is, plainly.
Statement of Faith
We believe:
The Bible is the inspired Word of God and is the final authority for Christian faith and 10 living. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17; John 17:17)
1. God exists eternally in three persons –Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, --and has revealed Himself to be perfect in love, righteous in all His ways, and has created all things. (Matthew 28: 18-20; Luke 3:22)
2. Jesus Christ is God’s eternal and only Son, as wholly God and wholly man. He allowed Himself to be born of a virgin, modeled how we are to live through His sinless life, died as a sacrifice paying for sins, rose again, and has returned to heaven to prepare a place for us. (Colossians 1:20; John 1:1)
3. Men and Women are created in God’s image, tempted by Satan and rebel against God. Through repentance and faith in Jesus, we are forgiven our sins and we become children of God. (Genesis 3; Ephesians 2:8-10)
4. The Holy Spirit persuades us to repent of our sins and confess Jesus is Lord. He lives in us, teaches us and gives us the ability to lead God honoring lives. (Acts 1:8; John 23 16: 7-11)
5. The Church is the living body of Christ on earth; Jesus is the head and the source of our life. The Church is composed of those who have acknowledged Him as Savior and Lord. The Church exists to celebrate God’s existence, cultivate personal growth in Jesus, care about one another in Christ, and to communicate all that Jesus is and has done to the world. (Colossians 1:18; Romans 12:9,10)
6. We affirm the family as the basic unit of society and seek to preserve its integrity and stability (Genesis 2:21-25; Ephesians 6:1-4). We believe the Bible teaches that marriage refers to the covenant relationship exclusively between one man and one woman, as instituted by God in the beginning (Genesis 2:20b-24; 1 Corinthians 7:2; Hebrews 13:4).
7. Jesus Christ will return to earth to raise the dead to life, judge the world, and establish 35 His glorious Kingdom. All those who have received Him as Lord and Savior will live 36 with Him forever. (Matthew 25:31-46; Revelation 22)
