6/2/2023 0 Comments We Can Trust His PromisesIf we forget who really has the power in every situation, pain can overwhelm us. Jesus overcame the grave, so we can be confident there is nothing that is beyond His control or beneath His concern when it comes to His children. This doesn’t mean zero pain. It means even when there is pain, God will turn it to good. We might not learn His purpose before we get to heaven, but we can stand on His promises.
Questions for further thought: 1. Has there ever been a painful experience where it was difficult for you to see God’s plan? 2. Have you ever caught a glimpse of God’s plan later, after you’ve already been through a tough time? Challenge: Memorize one of the verses in today’s study. Those are the words that will come back to you when pain threatens to turn your life into chaos.

6/1/2023 0 Comments He Will Never Leave UsThe feelings and reactions surrounding pain, whether mental or physical, are overwhelming and seem impossible to control. In shock and in fear, an emotional connection to God might be faint or even entirely absent. That calm presence we experience in our normal prayer lives is nowhere to be found. But Jesus’ promise to never leave us or forsake us does not depend on the state of our emotions. He is always there. We can stand on His promises.
Questions for further thought: 1. Have you ever felt so emotionally numb in the face of pain that you doubted God was there? 2. What brings you back to God when you experience that feeling of distance for a time? Challenge: Pick a verse to memorize, like Matthew 28:20, that reminds you of God’s promise to be with us always. |
