3/16/2021 0 Comments Choosing SelfThe story of David’s relationship with Bathsheba is simply shocking. He sleeps with another man’s wife; when she gets pregnant, he attempts to trick Uriah into sleeping with her to cover it up. Finally, David successfully plots to strand Uriah on the battlefield in a conspiracy to murder him. Each of these choices would have been avoidable; each time David chose his own pleasure and convenience over God’s will. This wilderness is of his own making.
Questions for further thought: 1. How would you react if you heard of a politician committing such acts today? Are they forgivable? 2. Have you ever committed a sin that you felt was unforgivable? Challenge: Remember a time when you were in the wilderness – and you knew that it was your own choices that led you there. How did you escape from that wilderness?
