Maybe you are uncertain whether you have a real role to play as part of the body of the church. You don’t want to stand up and speak, you don’t want to lead worship or teach Sunday school. But not everyone gets a starring role. And if you’ve ever injured your pinky toe, you must recognize this essential truth: losing function in even the smallest body part affects the whole body. Every part of the body is essential.
Questions for further thought:
1. Why do you think we tend to dismiss the importance of our part in the body of the church?
2. Is it genuine humility to say “Well, I’m not the [insert best body part here], so I am not truly part of the body”?
Challenge: In your prayers today, ask God to give you the right vision of yourself as a valuable part of the church body.
