These passages are just two of many that describe God’s advocacy for those who have no voice and His willingness to serve those He created and loves. As members of the body of Christ, it’s not surprising that we each have issues and individuals in our world that we are particularly drawn to. Translating those concerns into action is a natural next step.
Questions for further thought:
1. Do an online search with phrases like, “God’s love for the poor” or “God’s concern for the needy.” Or come up with your own terms. What are your conclusions?
2. When you think of Christian service, what do you picture? Does focusing on God’s concerns change that picture?
Challenge: Do some research to determine the underserved groups in your community. Volunteer organizations like VOA and Feeding America can be good starting points. Our pastors and our outreach elder, Jessi Copeland, are also great resources. See if any of these needs resonate with you.
