Judgement Based on Appearances

Luke 7:44-46

The Pharisee has invited Jesus over to his house for a meal, but he has not shown Jesus love or served Him. The Pharisee, who seems like he has it all together, isn’t exhibiting the fruits of his faith. However, this woman, who seems like her life has fallen apart, is showing more fruit. Let’s not be quick to judge others based on their appearances. 


Questions for further thought:
1. Why does the woman do these things to Jesus? (You might have to read the whole story to be able to answer this question.)

2. Why doesn’t the pharisee serve Jesus in the way that the woman has?


​Challenge: Is there someone in your life right now that might be like to woman? I’d challenge you to take a closer look at them today, not in a judgmental way, but in a way that looks past their surface (mistakes, imperfections) and into their true intentions.
