2/1/2024 0 Comments Releasing Your IncomeThe man who approached Jesus had been seeking to do the right things in life, but his riches had become a barrier to fully following Jesus. As musician Jon Foreman wrote, “You possess your possessions or they possess you.” This rich, young man was possessed by his possessions and so went away sad. In contrast, though the widow was poor she gave all she had into God’s hands. The focus is not on how much you do or do not have though, but rather how much you are willing to release to God from what He’s blessed you with. This is not only about paychecks, bank accounts, and investments but also your home, your vehicles, the contents of your refrigerator, your hobby collections, etc. God does not desire to take all He has given you from you, but rather to be all you need – letting your resources enhance the relationship you have with Him and introduce others to the joy of that relationship as well.
Question 1: What resource do you have (financial or physical item) that is creating a barrier between you and God having the greatest connection possible? Question 2: What are a few ways you have witnessed others releasing their possessions to God that led to others growing in their relationship with Him? Challenge: Make a list of the resources you have – financial and possessions. Keep writing until you can’t think of anything else. Then select one or two that you can put to work today for God’s work in the life of someone else.
