God limited the amount of trouble Satan could inflict onto Job. God instructs the devil not to cross this line and the devil has to obey. God is protecting us from the devil’s temptations, but allowing some, so that we may grow stronger by relying on God. When we rely on God, he gives us a way out.
Questions for further thought: 1. Why would God allow the devil to tempt us? 2. When have you looked for a way out when you begin to feel tempted? God promises us one every time. Challenge: Think about the common things that tempt you and then develop a plan for a way out that will prevent you from falling into those temptations.

Yes. I believe that God allows the devil to tempt us knowing that there’s a good chance that we can grow our endurance and consider it a time for great joy. Like in James 1:2-3 “Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.”
