4/1/2022 0 Comments The Point and the PurposeWhy should we care? What does it matter if there really is a being of infinite power out there? Perhaps it matters because someone decided to create us. Then again, He could’ve just been bored. Or maybe it matters because He decided to give us a sense of wrong and right, and it would be a good idea to follow that. These are all very interesting conjectures, but they have quite missed the point. When God created us, he gave us a choice in how we wanted to live. Humanity chose to try living on its own, and we have been struggling with that decision ever sense. God has not been idle in trying to get us back, though. He has sacrificed his own Son in order that we might be able to come back to Him. The point is that there is an infinite being out there who loves you infinitely.
Questions for further thought: 1. Why is Christ’s sacrifice required for humanity’s redemption? 2. How should knowledge of this sacrificial love affect how you live your life? Challenge: Take your answer from question number two and make a plan that you can implement this week.
