Which of us hasn’t thought, “I wish I/we____.” You can fill in the blank. Comparing ourselves or our situations to others is, for better or worse, a part of our human nature. Unfortunately, most of us have also experienced the painful consequences of allowing these thoughts to take root and grow. This Sunday, Burke Perry will lead us in a closer look at The Cancer of Comparison and enjoy some extremely healthy—and potentially addictive—high-end convenience store treats.
We are all labeled. People call us all kinds of names but we are not who people say we are; we are not the labels others put on us. We are who God says we are. This week, Pastor Doug will help us counter the labels others put on us and learn the truth of who God says we are!
The first Sunday of Pastor's Choice is going to the dogs! This Sunday Brian talks pets and what they can teach us about faith and gets some help from John Wick, King Solomon, Jesus, and Ellen. There will be treats (cinnamon raisin biscuits) for the humans AND the pups. There might even be a 🐕 joining us in the Worship Center.
Busy has become a four-letter word in our culture. If you're busy, our culture says you are over-scheduled or running ragged or trying to do too much. Some of us are afraid to admit how busy we are lest we be shamed or made to feel guilty. Our faith also seems to look down on being busy with Jesus' teaching on "being Mary and not Martha". Is being busy as bad as we think it is? How can we be intentional with our schedules and activities? This Sunday Pastor Brian's choice of message will reveal that busy is in fact not a four-letter word.
With the hundreds and thousands of Christian churches and denominations out there, which one is right? It is obvious that they do not all agree but if they do not agree, does that mean some have truth and others have false teaching. Wouldn’t the Holy Spirit give the same truth to every church? These are real questions that need real answers. This week, Pastor Doug is going to going to tackle this issue head on. You may or may not like his answer, but if not, you’re sure to find a church that thinks just like you, or better yet, start your own denomination! Ugh!
