Whenever you go somewhere (hopefully), you know where you’re going, how to get there, and how long it will take to do so. But what if you weren’t entirely sure how long it would take, or where you’d go? This was what the kings of the East found when they were travelling by the light of a star. They didn’t know what or whom they were seeking, but they knew they had to travel by that light. And we know what they found.
Questions for further thought: 1. Do you ever wonder where you’re going in your life, how long it’ll take to get there, and why? 2. Do you ever think about asking God to give you light and direction? Challenge: We all want to have a sense that we know what we’re here for and where we’re going in life. There’s no better guide than our Father in heaven for that, since He’s the one who created us for His purpose in the first place. Pray to Him today for that guiding light in your life, just as He guided the travelers to His historic birthplace.

12/5/2022 0 Comments Gathering for an Amazing EventChristmastime is when we think about the light of the world. This, of course, is Jesus. We remember this through the story of Christmas itself, particularly as described in Luke 2:8-9.
Questions for further thought: 1. What are your fondest memories of learning about the Christmas story? 2. What would you say is the most amazing thing about the first Christmas? What’s most meaningful for you when you think of Him being born for you? Challenge: Think about what it must have been like to have been there when He was born. Then, think on the significance of what has happened SINCE He has been. Be extremely grateful for the birth of the greatest being history has ever had, as the shepherds were. 12/2/2022 0 Comments God's Promises Trump DoubtsWhen we study God's Word, a pattern develops. We learn that God never changes and He never lies. We learn that He is faithful and true. When He says He is going to do something, He does it. How can we not trust a God who has shown us over and over again that He is for us? Don't doubt – believe!
Questions for further thought: 1. Has God ever helped you through a difficult situation? 2. How did He do it? Challenge: God knows you better than you know yourself (Psalm 139). Ask Him for strength to step out in faith when you are battling doubt. 12/1/2022 0 Comments ExcusesGod had obviously already chosen Moses as His instrument to free the captive Israelites from bondage in Egypt. But when God revealed that plan to Moses, the doubts and excuses started. "I don't speak well. Pharaoh probably won’t listen to me. Who am I to lead these people out of Egypt?" God's plan will not be denied by our doubts. His plans are perfect and we need to fall in line with them in faith.
Questions for further thought: 1. What did God do to convince Moses? 2. How did Moses respond? Challenge: What lessons can we take from this story? That God has an answer for every one of our doubts. As He did with Moses, He will do for You. He assured Moses that He would be with him every step of the way and give Him words and power to perform miracles. Ask God for that kind of help when you are struggling. |
